The Grid uses the same sans-serif typeface called Fakt for all headlines, deks, section titles, folios, and bylines. The majority of differentiation between these elements is seen in size to establish a hierarchy. Something interesting I noticed is that the byline is always given more emphasis than the dek. It is in all caps and bolded, where deks use capital and lowercase letters with a fairly thin weight. Color is introduced into the type through section titles and tags. Body copy is written exclusively in a serif typeface called Tiempo, which is consistent in captions and stories throughout each issue. I like the minimalistic use of two solid typefaces throughout the publication. It is very effective, and allows readers to focus more on photographs and hand-drawn graphics rather than over-designed headers.
