There are a lot of common sentiments among the students who gave advice last semester, particularly the need for planning and editing when developing a design. My favorite piece of advice was that ‘context is not just text,’ because despite the fact that I am a word-centric person, I can definitely see how a design can tell a story just as much as words can. I’d love to be able to learn how designs can effectively tell those stories. Though much of the advice given (don’t wait until the last minute, don’t settle, etc.) seems obvious, it’s probably much harder when put into practice.
