The first class allowed me to reflect on the true intent of design – to help convey information and not necessarily draw attention to the publication. It’s about keeping things simple and easy to digest.
There are different ways to make design appealing and simple, but if you’re presenting content and readers can take in the content you’re heading in the right direction. The first class made me think about how things can be broken down to the building blocks rather than be thrown into a complex pile. That goes for design and for writing.
I think the challenge this semester will be how to continue to break pieces of design down so that they’re both simple alone and contribute something to presentation together.
