Looking over the September 2018 NFL Issue of ESPN The Magazine:
Klavika typeface is used for the body copy and captions. This typeface is very sharp, clear and easy to read off, and complements the sports theme especially well.
Headlines and stats fall under the A2 Beckett typeface. This typeface is strong and literally gives off a sporty feel. It meshes very well with the striking images used throughout the publication.
For this issue specifically, Hey Studio created a special display typeface most present in the Forward, TOC, and section fronts. It is an uppercase and numerical based typeface which creates volume and solid contrast. I’ve included some images below.
The typefaces used in this publication are uniquely designed to fit the geometric feel and “represent the energetic nature” of sports fans everywhere.
